School Messenger is the notification platform used by Leander ISD to connect with parents and staff through voice, SMS text and email broadcasts. The service is proven to positively impact academic achievement, increase parent involvement, reduce absenteeism and dropouts, and save staff time. It comes with rock solid infrastructure and always available 24x7x365 live customer service and support. This communication service is for guardians of LISD students and staff members of LISD.
Guardians of students in Leander ISD are automatically enabled to receive communications from their child’s campus(es) and the district. To give families more flexibility in how they wish to be communicated with, users can now customize contact preferences – phone, text, and email – from with the SchoolMessenger app.
Download the SchoolMessenger app from the Android Google Play and Apple iOS app stores by searching “SchoolMessenger”. The SchoolMessenger app is also accessible through a web browser at https://go.schoolmessenger.com.
Click the “Sign Up” link and enter the same email address the school has on record for your student.
Setting Contact Preferences
In the SchoolMessenger app menu, select “Preferences” to control how you would like to be contacted based on each Message Type (District News, School News, Board Briefs, Transportation, and Alerts and Emergency). Preferences can be set for phone, email and text for each message type.
To enable push notifications, visit the “Settings” menu inside the mobile app and select Push Notifications. This menu will let you choose which Message Type you’d like receive push notifications for.
NOTE: To change your contact information – email or phone number – please contact your campus registrar.
SMS Text Messaging
Listening to feedback from the community, Leander ISD has also increased the amount of SMS text messaging incorporated into its broadcasts.
This SMS text service is for guardians of LISD students and LISD staff members only.
***Before performing the opt-in process below, you’ll want to ensure that your child’s school has your wireless number(s) in the student information database for each child. If you haven’t already provided that phone number to your school, please contact them and provide them with that wireless number.
In order to participate in the new service you must indicate your willingness to receive text messages to your phone. The process is simple and only takes a few seconds to complete:
- Simply text any one of the following words to the number 67587 : yes, subscribe, optin
- You’ll know you were successful if you receive the following reply message: “You are registered to receive aprox 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help”.
- You will need to repeat the opt-in process for any wireless numbers that you wish to include.
You are able to opt-in or opt-out of the text message service at any time.
Please note: Although the district does not charge you for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.
