To deploy devices more efficiently to our families and to aid with traffic flow, the Friday, August 7 Chromebook deployment has moved to Henry Middle School, which will flow through Vista Ridge High School. Chromebooks will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be no Chromebook deployments at Pleasant Hill and Grandview Hills Elementary Schools.
Please enter at the North entrance of Henry Middle School (Left side). The car line will maneuver through the Henry campus to Vista Ridge as specified in the map below.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that the elementary school Chromebook deployments have caused our families and community.
Based on the number of devices loaned out in the spring, the LISD Technology Team prepared to deploy Chromebooks to more than half of all new-to-district incoming students, kindergarteners, and pre-kindergarteners. To give families maximum flexibility, the decision was made to allow any student to pick up a device at any of the five campus locations at their respective scheduled times.
While we did communicate and remind families that these deployments are for students who don’t currently have a device available at their homes, we are experiencing a large influx of students who chose to use their own device in the spring and now want a district device.
LISD staff distributed approximately 1,100 devices at Mason and Bagdad elementaries Aug. 4 and more than 900 devices at Mason Elementary on Aug. 5. Even in the oppressive heat, staff stayed past the allotted time to ensure that every device possible could be given to a student.
To address these concerns, the Technology Dept. increased the Chromebooks available for the subsequent elementary school deployments. Thank you for your patience during this process. We are committed to making sure that our students and their parents are ready for virtual learning, and will continue to make improvements towards that goal.
