Path to Assessment and Graduation 2020

May 1, 2020

Dear Students and Parents:

As students and parents look toward the close of the 2019-2020 school year in late May, we want to provide applicable information related to course credit, graduation requirements, state assessment and summer school.  Please review the chart below (applicable to your child’s grade level) for further information.  Questions may be directed to your child’s teacher and/or counselor.

Applicable to current 12th grade students (2019-2020 seniors):

(EOC = End of Course; IGC=Individual Graduation Committee)

A student must receive a pass (P) in the 5th and 6th six weeks in order to receive second semester course credit.  To receive full course credit, a student must have an overall passing grade for Semester 1 and 2 combined.  Questions regarding course credit may be directed to the student’s teacher and/or counselor.

Current guidance from TEA (April 21, 2020), regarding incomplete grades appearing on official transcripts (i.e. for colleges, scholarships, military etc.), states an incomplete grade (“I“) for high school credit courses may not be labeled as such on a transcript.  Students should make every effort to resolve Incompletes (“I”)  prior to May 29, 2020.  All incompletes for seniors must be resolved through summer school by July 24, 2020. Any course that is awarded  an “I” as a final grade will be labeled as an “F” on the senior’s final transcript.

If summer school is needed for a student to capture high school course credit in a corresponding STAAR EOC or other high school course, please click here for registration information.

Applicable to current 6th-11th grade students in STAAR EOC assessed courses :

(EOC = End of Course)

A student must receive a pass (P) in the 5th and 6th six weeks in order to receive second semester course credit.  To receive full course credit, a student must have an overall passing grade for Semester 1 and 2 combined. Questions regarding course credit may be directed to the student’s teacher and/or counselor.
